Cybersecurity Threats - A Growth Industry

While enterprises are increasing aware of the threats from digital adversaries and cybersecurity budgets accordingly continue to move sharply up and to the right, cybersecurity attacks continue to grow at an alarming rate, more that doubling in the 2nd half of 2021. With no end in sight, enterprises will spend more and more on cyber defense and innovators will be called up to develop new defensive tools and techniques. We are living in a cyber arms race where the bad guys have the advantage over the good guys and the costs of defense, and missteps, is accelerating, with no end in sight….

In aggregate, all types of global cyberattacks soared 125 percent in the second half of last year, according to Deep Instinct, an Israeli-based deep learning cybersecurity company and the author of its biannual Threat Landscape Report. Ransomware attacks, widely considered the most vicious type of major assault because it makes computer systems unusable until a ransom is paid, soared 105 percent in 2021 as a whole, according to the SonicWall 2022 Cyber Threat Report.
