CyberSecurity - No One Goes It Alone

There is a growing realization that enhanced and effective cyber security requires collaboration between defenders - including government, commercial enterprises and non-profit institutions.  At the end of the day, these organizations are interconnected at some level, share much of the same IT infrastructure and are vulnerable to the same threat actors. Much as villagers once built fortified towns and cities for their communal defense, the understanding of "common threats" has led to a significant expansion of threat information sharing and cyber defense collaboration - hopefully improving our collective security.  Particularly noteworthy is growing cooperation between industry and government where last year's SolarWinds attack demonstrated that in the world of "1"s, "0"s and cyber attacks, the attackers often don't discriminate....

Realizing that it must improve at stopping cyberattacks before they occur, the National Security Agency’s Cybersecurity Collaboration Center announced this month that more than 100 companies had joined an NSA effort to collaborate with industry on big cybersecurity problems. This is a huge about-face for the NSA, which for decades avoided such public efforts. For starters, the NSA is working with cloud computing companies and others to speed the translation of intelligence about cyberthreats into unclassified forms that can be shared with industry officials who lack government clearances.
