For years now, we have talked about the human element as the "weak link" in cyber security. Typically, this references human behavior and its contributions to cyber vulnerabilities - whether its phishing attacks, poor password discipline or lax cyber hygiene. But there is another side to the "weak link" proposition - the critical dependence on trained cyber engineers to confront and manage the continuously evolving cyber threat landscape; and the fact that these security professionals are in critical and chronic short supply. Given the contribution of the human element to the problem and the solution, maybe its time we re-think the softer side of cyber...

CyberSecurity and the Human Element - Problem & Solution
There has been a chronic shortage of cyber pros for years. According to ISC(2), an international nonprofit that offers cybersecurity training and certification programs, there is an unfilled need for 359,000 of them in the United States alone and 3.1 million globally (up from 1 million in 2014). Other surveys, meanwhile, show that more than two-thirds of companies are impacted by the cyber skills shortage—a situation expected to deteriorate further.
