The $1T infrastructure bill pending in front of the U.S. House of Representatives calls for massive investments in U.S. critical infrastructure, including cyber security to secure that infrastructure. The investments are well past due as evidenced by recent cyber attacks on pipeline and water treatment infrastructure. While the pending investments are welcome, this is but a small down payment of what it will take to ensure our essential infrastructure, the foundation stones of our economy, are actually protected. And this can not be a "one and done"; it will need to be an on-going investment as cyber threats continue to evolve going forward. Equally important is that the security dollars get directed to the practitioners with expertise to actually make a difference in securing these assets as opposed to the "usual" government contracting suspects. In cyber, this means the start-up community more often that not.
