Private Sector Leads in Cyber Defense

Private cyber security companies are collaborating at unprecedented levels with government law enforcement and cyber operators - a pragmatic reflection of the scope and scale of the cyber threat landscape  - to identify and defend against foreign nation cyber attacks.  While government has unique domain expertise due to their history of offensive cyber operations, increasingly, the private sector's expertise combined with its agility means these private cyber companies are playing an increasingly central role in cyber defense.  Allegis -DataTribe companies Dragos, Prevailion and Area 1 Security are leading the pack.

The U.S. government says it welcomes help from tech companies, according to Shelby Pierson, who works for the acting director of national intelligence, Joseph Maguire. She was appointed last year to a newly created position that puts her in charge of coordinating election security across the intelligence community.
